Dear Friends,

Summer in the Bay area means barbeques, beach time, and the best county fair in California. The San Mateo County Fair starts this weekend and will close on June 17th. There will be plenty of fun attractions and activities to enjoy at the fairgrounds including garden and livestock exhibitions, concerts, and carnival rides.

I’ll be at the fair as well hosting a special exhibit called Make It In America to showcase local companies and American-made products. You might be surprised to know how much of an impact we can all make by supporting our local businesses and buying products that are made here in the U.S.

In fact, ABC News reported that 200,000 American jobs could be created if we each spent just $64 more per year on American-made products!

Buying American-made products creates American jobs and a better future for our children. Manufacturing jobs must be part of our economic recovery. They are well-paying jobs supporting middle class families.

The Bay Area has some of the most creative and innovative minds in America and that is reflected in the fantastic products they make. Eighteen exhibitors will participate in Make It In America to display and demonstrate their American products. Here’s a sample of what you’ll see at the exhibit:
  • Ford will show off a brand new Focus Electric;
  • Lockheed Martin will present three-dimensional video of their latest solar research;
  • Mission Motorcycles will bring an electric, zero emission “Zero Motorcycle”;
  • Boudin Bakery will provide samples of its world-famous sourdough bread;
  • Kelly Moore will open a gallery where children can test their painting skills;
  • Intuitive Surgical will show one of their da Vinci surgical robots.

Make It In America will be open in the Expo Hall tomorrow, June 9, from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday, June 10, from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.

I look forward to seeing you at the fair.

All the best,

jackie
