Dear Friends,

May is American Stroke Month. No one wants to think about strokes, but each of us needs to recognize the warning signs for the sake of ourselves and our loved ones.

  • Sudden difficulty talking or understanding words
  • Sudden loss of feeling or strange sensation on one side
  • Sudden weakness on one side of face, arm or leg
  • Sudden severe unexplainable headache
  • Sudden decreased or blurred vision
  • Sudden unexplained dizziness or loss of balance
I urge you to take a few moments to familiarize yourself with these warning signs. Here’s why:

  • Each year in America, 795,000 people suffer a stroke;
  • Stroke is the #4 cause of death and the leading cause of disabilities in adults in the US;
  • Strokes occur in young and old alike. 35% of people having strokes are under 55;
  • Stroke is a brain attack and the first three hours are critical! Seeking immediate medical treatments can save lives and serious disabilities can be avoided;
  • Strokes are preventable. Stroke is treatable;
  • Stroke is a Medical Emergency. Everybody needs to know.
  • CALL 911 when stroke symptoms occur.
Please join with me in telling your family members, friends and colleagues about the stroke warning signs, and in watching for those signs in yourself or those around you. Click here to share this email with a friend.

All the best,
