Dear Speier Corps Volunteers,

I hope this email finds you well and enjoying the beginning of the holiday season. I am excited to announce that our next Speier Corps group project will be working with the 2012 San Mateo County Children’s Holiday Fund Drive. I enthusiastically support this event because it serves a real need in our community to make the holidays brighter for abused, sick and underprivileged local children who would otherwise be without gifts.

I invite the Speier Corps volunteers to staff the warehouse, located at 455 County Center in Redwood City on Monday, December 10th and Saturday, December 15th. The tasks will include sorting and categorizing merchandize by age, choosing items to match written requests from participating agencies/programs and packaging gifts for pick-up and delivery. I am sure you will find the work rewarding and in keeping with the season of sharing.

If you are available and interested in participating in this effort, please sign up for one or more of the following shifts:

Monday, December 10th, 10 am- 2 pm
Saturday, December 15th 10 am- 2 pm
Saturday, December 15th 2 pm – 6 pm

Please note that the Children’s Fund is also seeking volunteers for the length of the toy drive which will run from November 26th until December 19th. If you wish to volunteer earlier than the group project dates we have set aside, or on a more sustained basis, please contact Amabel Baxley, Volunteer Coordinator for San Mateo County Human Services Agency at 650-802-6571 or abaxley@co.sanmateo.ca.us.

As always, direct any questions regarding the Speier Corps to my Volunteer Coordinator, Judy Bloom at Volunteer.Speier@mail.house.gov. Please accept my wishes for a happy, meaningful holiday season and I hope to see you at the Children’s Holiday Fund Drive!

All the best,

jackie
