Dear Friends,

The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC) has announced that the Presidential Inauguration will take place on January 21, 2013, Martin Luther King Day. I’m sure many of you will want to journey to Washington for this historic event.

My office will be distributing a limited number of tickets to my constituents for the outdoor Inauguration to be held on the west lawn of the Capitol. Due to widespread excitement, I can only accept requests from residents of my district, for two (2) tickets per family or address. To make a request, please fill out this form on my website. Requests will be honored through a random lottery to be held by December 13, after which my staff will notify you about ticket availability via email and phone.

Fortunately, you do not need a ticket to watch the Inauguration from the National Mall, and dozens of open events are scheduled throughout the Washington area for Inauguration week. However, I hope you will take advantage of this chance to attend such a significant occasion. To learn more about these ceremonies throughout American history and logistical information for attendees of the 2013 Inauguration, I encourage you to visit the JCCIC’s website or to “like” the Committee on Facebook. You may also call my Capitol Hill office at 202-225-3531, or email our ticket coordinator for a response within 1-2 business days.

January in Washington may be colder than in the sunny Bay Area, but we won’t let that stop us from celebrating democracy in the nation’s capital. Visitors are welcome to join me in my office for a reception the day before the outdoor ceremony, with more details available closer to January 21. I look forward to seeing you and hearing your hopes for the new Congress and new presidential term!

All the best,

jackie
