Dear Friend,

Volunteering is one of the most rewarding and effective ways to give back to your community. Every day I meet people who want to make a contribution and give their time for a good cause. That is why I started “Speier Corps” at my last Job Hunters Boot Camp, a workshop that helps job seekers enter or re-enter the job market. Almost 80 volunteers signed up and we are growing!

Now “Speier Corps” is ready for its first group project. On Wednesday, August 29, 2012 we will clean up the Magic Mountain Playground in the Coyote Point Recreation Area in San Mateo. I hope you can dedicate two to three hours between 9 a.m. and noon to roll up your sleeves and help weed, plant, spread mulch or paint picnic tables.

Please fill out this form to sign up for the Magic Mountain Playground.

Your work will benefit local children and families who use this beautiful county park. This is also a great way for you to network with people. I am a firm believer that volunteering and networking often lead to jobs, so if you are looking for work, take advantage of this opportunity.

If you are interested in joining Speier Corps, but are not available on August 29, please contact Judy Bloom in my office to find out about future volunteer opportunities: (650) 342-0300 or volunteer.speier@mail.house.gov.

I look forward to seeing you in two weeks!

All the best,

jackie
