May 10, 2011

Dear Friends,

I hope that you can join me on Saturday, May 21st, 2011 for an important collaborative anti-human trafficking training at the Open Door Church in San Mateo. As you may know, sex trafficking is a despicable crime that impacts nearly 300,000 children in our country each and every year. There is a common misconception that only foreign nationals are sold for sex, but the sad reality is that American children are also victimized. We know that criminals are turning to trafficking at increasing rates because it is more profitable than selling drugs and carries lighter jail sentences.

This community training session will cover:
  • What is human trafficking and why is it important?
  • Is it really happening here in San Mateo County?
  • How do I recognize it in my community?
  • Who do I contact if I see something suspicious?
  • What can I do to make sure that my neighbors are aware of the issue?
Event details are listed below. To RSVP, please visit this website or contact Alana Paull in my office at (650) 342-0300.
