December 9, 2011 Dear Friends,

I'm sure by now you've heard about the payroll tax holiday that is about to expire soon. These tax breaks most benefit low-income individuals and the working-class of our nation. Sadly, though, Speaker Boehner and Congressional Republicans are willing to risk raising taxes on 160 million middle-class families in order to protect the 300,000 wealthiest individuals. That's just wrong. While families sit around the kitchen table worrying about whether they can buy toys for their children during the holidays and still pay the bills in January, Republicans are holding up a 1,500 dollar tax cut for the typical middle class family. Democrats have said we can’t go home this winter until we extend the payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits. Republicans need to join us at the table to get the job done now. So many families depend on it.
