"Supercommittee" Nonsense

November 18, 2011 Dear Friends,

The whole idea that a 12-member "Supercommittee" holds in its hands the security and future of America's economic stability is wrong and makes no sense. We cannot afford to rely on 12 people playing political games when 14 million Americans are unemployed, 9.2 million additional Americans are underemployed and nearly 5 percent of Americans are forced to work multiple jobs to make ends meet. That's why I hosted the Rangel Career Fair on Nov. 14 at the City College of New York, where 2,000 job seekers attended the event and met with nearly 90 employers with jobs available. I am thankful to everyone for participating to make it a successful event. I will keep fighting to put our community and America back to work.
