GETTING AMERICA BACK TO WORK
August 12, 2011
Dear Friends,
Last week, Standard and Poors for the first time ever, downgraded our nation's credit rating from AAA to AA+. This is the direct consequence of the circus we had with the debt ceiling: Republicans, pushed by the Tea Party, refused to allow the President to have the authority to meet America's financial obligations unless we agreed to deep spending cuts which we did with the debt ceiling deal. The GOP refusal to take action on job creating legislation or to raise revenue is hurting the entire nation. Every economist knows that in these times, you don't stimulate the economy by cutting funds and putting people out of work. We need to increase revenue and we need to get America back to work.
