Making it in America to Create Jobs
July 29, 2010
Dear Friends,
Watch My Statement on Revamping our Economy
Hello. This is Congressman Charles Rangel.
On Tuesday, the Senate passed the U.S. Manufacturing Enhancement Act that will make American companies more competitive by reducing import duties on materials not available in the U.S.--and in the process create tens of thousands of jobs. It's now on its way to be signed by the President.
To grow our economy, my Democratic colleagues and I are working to enact a package of measures that will rebuild the American manufacturing base and put the American people back to work.
The National Manufacturing Strategy Act creates a Manufacturing Strategy Board that will develop short- and long-term goals for America’s manufacturing industry.
The Clean Energy Technology Manufacturing and Export Assistance Act supports our clean American energy economy by making it easier for companies to navigate foreign market and promoting investments and reducing production costs for these companies.
The End the Trade Deficit Act rethinks United States trade policy so that we no longer import more than we export.
With these bills, we are one step closer to strengthening our manufacturing sector so we can buy products that are proudly "Made in USA" and create jobs at home. When we make it in America more middle class families will make it too.

Charles B. Rangel
