Dear Friends,

As we return from the Independence Day weekend, I can't but help to ponder about the very meaning of freedom and the sacrifices that are being made to defend it.

Last Thursday, the Congress voted whether to provide supplemental funding to support a war in the Middle East that seems to have no end: 8 years, $1 trillion dollars, and 5,400 lives lost.

"I don't believe we should spend another dime for wars in the Middle East- except to withdraw."
What do you think?
Should we keep spending $1 trillion dollars to fund this war?

Our country has suffered enough--enough sacrifice, enough poverty, enough homelessness, enough unemployment. A trillion dollars invested at home could have made a big difference.

What troubles me most is the total indifference of many Americans to the loss of lives-- too many for too long.

I am not challenging President Obama's decisions on Afghanistan and Iraq or on national security.

But I do question whether Congress in supporting that policy is willing to require all eligible residents of this great country to make a contribution--to put their own children at risk. What do you think about this issue? I'd like to hear your views. Join the discussion on my Youtube channel.
