June 18, 2010
Dear Friends,
This week marks the 60th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War. As a Korean War veteran, I am proud to announce the unanimous passage of HJ Res 86, a House resolution marking the event and honoring the more than 54,000 Americans killed in the conflict, 8,000 POW/MIAs, and the 6.8 million American men and women who served during the Korean War period, between June 27, 1950, and January 31, 1955. The legislation also recognizes the 28,500 members of the U.S. Armed Forces who have served in Korea annually since 1955 to the present. To read more about this resolution, please visit my website. You can also join the conversation and leave comments on my Facebook page.
Social Media Competition One of the most important ways for me to be an effective Member of Congress is to stay in touch with you. Fortunately, the Internet enables me to be in even closer touch with you through social media. Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube offer you the ability to communicate directly and instantly with me and my office, and offers me the chance to connect with you in real time, keeping you up-to-speed with what I’m doing, where I’m going, and how I’m fighting for you every day.
That is why, right now, my Democratic colleagues and I are in a spirited contest to see who can get the most new friends and followers on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. More constituents connected to me on these social media sites means more people I can hear from directly to help guide my work and the more people I can let know what I’m doing in Washington.
This important contest only runs through June 21st, so if you haven’t signed up to follow me on any of these sites, please do so- and please suggest it to friends and family.
Thanks for your participation and continuous support!
Best regards,
Charlie
