Dear Friends,
This week, my Colleagues from the Congressional Black Caucus and I met with President Obama to discuss the disproportionately unemployment crisis in urban areas. Last month the unemployment rate among African-Americans increased to 16.1% percent, by comparison the unemployment rate nationwide is nine percent. We will keep working with the President to target-assist those communities that have the highest unemployment, highest number of kids dropping out of school, and are medically underserved.

The IRS Hosts Open House to Help Solve Tax Problems
The Internal Revenue Service will host a special nationwide Open House on Saturday May 15 to help small businesses and individuals solve tax problems.
Approximately 200 IRS offices will be open and IRS staff will be available on site or by telephone to help taxpayers work through their problems and walk out with solutions.
The Open House on May 15 is the first of three events scheduled through the end of June. The next two are planned for Saturday June 5 and Saturday June 26.
