ACA/Budget Showdown!

March 30, 2012
Dear Friends,

Our nation's budget should be a moral document. Yet the House on Thursday passed on strict partisan lines (228-191) the Ryan Budget that abandons fairness. The GOP-backed budget provides tax breaks for the wealthy and special interests at the expense of everyone else. Moreover, the budget attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act that is already providing so many benefits to millions of Americans. The list of harmful and deleterious effects of the potential rollback of healthcare reform is almost too catastrophic to even imagine! For three days, the Supreme Court held hearings to determine the fate of the healthcare reform law. I hope that the Justices will make the right decision for the well-being of our nation. There is one fact that I know: Democrat, Republican, or Independent; Liberal, Conservative, or Moderate; member of the Tea Party or Occupy Wall Street; female or male; young or old; black, white, red, yellow, or brown - we will all become ill and be in need of quality healthcare at some time during our lives. Overall, everyone who lives in America stands to benefit from health reform.
