GAS PRICES & TRANSPORTATION
March 16, 2012
Dear Friends,
Across America, people have been feeling the pain of rising gas prices. As Americans struggle, Republicans continue taking advantage of rising gas prices by blaming President Obama and Democrats as part of their political agenda. However, Democrats have been working on an all-of-the-above approach towards American energy that involves developing new domestic energy sources, new jobs, expanding oil and gas production and reducing our reliance on foreign oil. Meanwhile Republicans have been giving tax breaks for Big Oil while they rake in record profits. Rather than instigating phony debates, House Republicans should be focusing on passing the bipartisan transportation bill which passed this week in the Senate. Instead of taking up a Senate proposal that creates more than two million jobs, Republicans are pushing a bill that would destroy more than half-a-million jobs. It is time for Republicans to abandon their No-Jobs agenda. We need swift House action on this bipartisan bill that is necessary to strengthen our economy, help working families, create jobs, and rebuild America.
