MLK Day of Service

January 13, 2012 Dear Friends,

In 1963, I marched 54 miles from Selma to Montgomery with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. There were times when I wanted to give up and questioned what we were trying to accomplish. However I never questioned the passion and leadership of the man we were following. Thanks to Dr. King’s vision we were able to pass the monumental Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act.

Throughout the weekend, we pay tribute to Dr. King’s legacy and accomplishments by observing a national day of service. There are many great events and volunteer opportunities in our City that I encourage you to participate. CLICK HERE to see some local volunteer opportunities.
