This week we celebrated Memorial Day, a time to remember and honor those who sacrificed so much for our freedom. If you want to show your support for our veterans please get involved in the 2010 National Veterans Wheelchair Games. From July 4 through the 9th, the Denver metro area will be hosting the games, which is the largest wheelchair sporting event in the world. Events range from basketball, rugby, softball, handcycling, track and field and more for a total of 17 different sports at venues across the metro area. Please take some time to support these inspiring athletes.

Creating Jobs on Main Street,
Closing Tax Loopholes for Wall Street

Last week the House passed the American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act, which will support more than a million American jobs by helping restore credit to small businesses, extending important tax credits, and providing tax relief for millions of middle-class families. The bill also extends unemployment benefits for Americans who lost their jobs through no fault of their own.

Additionally, this legislation includes many benefits for the middle class including: property tax relief, state and local sales tax deductions, and college tuition deductions. These tax provisions are paid for by closing the tax loopholes big businesses exploited to ship jobs overseas and that allowed Wall Street billionaires to pay a much lower tax rate on their income. The bill also promotes corporate accountability for the oil industry, boosting the amount oil companies must pay into the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund – so taxpayers are not stuck with the bill for the risky practices of the industry. Now, the bill goes back to the Senate for consideration and I encourage them to move quickly and send this legislation to the President’s desk.

To discuss taxes, the economy, or any issue important to you, please attend my next Government in the Grocery. This is a program where my staff and I go to grocery stores throughout the district and talk with constituents one-on-one. Not only does this give me an opportunity to hear directly from my constituents but it helps me to better represent you in Washington DC. Please note constituents are given priority and due to time constraints groups or individuals are limited to approximately five minute intervals.

My Office Is Here to Help You!

One of the most important functions of serving in Congress is helping my constituents cut through some of the red tape when dealing with government agencies. We help constituents with many casework issues including passport, IRS, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and Veterans Administration (VA) benefits. I take pride in having the most responsive District Office possible and my staff and I will do our best to resolve your issues as quickly as we can.

Dr. Les and Olga Culver and Ed’s District Office Staff.

Dear Ed,

Words cannot express my sense of gratitude to you and your staff’s involvement in assisting me with a serious passport and visa issue on returning home from a job in Saudi Arabia. Again, thanks to you and your staff for your efforts on my behalf.

Dr. Les Culver
