If so, check out the Department of Energy's "America's Next Top Energy Innovator" challenge which allows entrepreneurs to purchase patents for new technology developed at our federal labs for $1,000 using a streamlined process. The first award winner was Colorado based e-Chromic LLC, who recently finalized an agreement to use NREL developed technology to retrofit inefficient windows with thin films to deflect sunlight in the summer.

Last week I had the privilege of hosting Vice President Biden right here in the 7th Congressional District at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden. He was here to tour NREL's solar research facilities and to highlight this important program to help small businesses use the latest cutting edge research at federal labs to create jobs and manufacture new products that will change the way we power this nation.

Recently, the Metro Denver EDC released information highlighting the phenomenal growth in the private renewable energy sector here in Colorado. Colorado's clean tech private business employment grew 32.7% from 2005 to 2010. I will continue to work to change the way we power this nation because promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy is good for national security and good for jobs. Please forward this information to anyone interested in the clean tech industry - who knows they could be "America's Next Top Energy Innovator".
