Constituent Services Success Story

One of the most important functions of serving in Congress is helping my constituents cut through some of the red tape when dealing with government agencies. While my office will not always be able to help, I take pride in having the most responsive District Office possible. We help constituents with many casework issues including passport, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and Veterans Administration (VA) benefits. If you have any questions about potential casework please call my District Office at: 303-274-7944.

Dick Malmros - Golden, CO

“Dear Congressman Perlmutter, I finally closed on my home refinance last month. A few months ago, I contacted your office for help with using the Making Home Affordable Refinance program. Well, we got it done and I doubt that this would have happened without your assistance. Thank you Congressman Perlmutter,” stated Dick Malmros, Golden.

FREE 2010 TAX TIPS & ASSISTANCE

Once again it is tax season, and my office wants to pass along information on how to make filing your tax returns easier, faster and more effective. The IRS currently offers a handful of online options to submit tax information, track your refund and receive refunds. Last year, 93 million taxpayers utilized at least one of these digital solutions. Check out the tips below to take advantage of this year's time-saving options:
  • Cut down on the paper and mailing hassles by filing your 2009 tax returns online. A free tool is provided for all individuals, while guidelines for businesses and non-profits can be found on the e-file homepage.
  • If your annual income is less than $57,000, you may be eligible for more advanced tax preparation software. Click here to find out whether or not you qualify.
  • Receive your refund up to a week faster by signing up to have your money automatically deposited in your bank account. You can also opt to have the money deposited into separate accounts or paid out as savings bonds by submitting Form 8888.
  • Keep up with the status of your refund by visiting Where’s My Refund?, an online tool that allows taxpayers to track when their refunds will arrive.
I know filing taxes can sometimes seem overwhelming. One of my top priorities as a member of Congress is to provide assistance in dealing with federal agencies, and I hope these tips will make this year's tax season easier to manage.
