The annual process of Medicare and Medicare Part D open enrollment began this week. From November 15 to December 31, people with Medicare can add, drop or change coverage during the open enrollment period. Choosing a plan by early December will ensure a smooth transition.

If you want to make changes to your coverage, please log on to the official Medicare website. This site offers tools that allow you to compare prices and coverage, along with important phone numbers to use in case of a problem. To check your eligibility for Medicare, or to apply online, visit the official online application page. You can also obtain coverage information through the State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIP). These offices provide counselors free of charge who can help you make informed decisions about your health care coverage options. You can locate the SHIP counselor nearest to you by clicking here.

Whether you are on Medicare or are responsible for the health care decisions of others who are, open enrollment is an important time to discuss coverage options. If you or your loved ones have any questions about Medicare, please do not hesitate to contact my office for assistance.

Sincerely,

U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre
Representing the 7th District of North Carolina
