Our retired service members have earned the benefits and care our nation promised them and deserve the steadfast support that should not end when they leave active duty. Throughout their time in uniform, the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces have never given up when defending American freedoms and ideals. It is important that we make a full effort to make sure that our Veterans are aware of the benefits they have earned as well as work to make sure that their claims are processed swiftly.

I have introduced the Veterans Outreach Improvement Act to improve the outreach activities of the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. The work to help our veterans must never stop, and that is why I have introduced this important bill. Specifically, this legislation would authorize the VA Secretary to provide grants and assistance to state veterans agencies and county veterans service officers to enhance outreach to veterans and their families and to assist in the development and submittal of benefits claims. This legislation will help do that, and I will be working for its passage.

If you or someone you know is facing difficulties with claiming their benefits with the Department of Veterans Affairs, please do not hesitate to contact my office and speak with my Chief of Constituent Services, Ms. Vivian Lipford at 202-225-2731.

Sincerely,

U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre
Representing the 7th District of North Carolina
