Dear Neighbor,

Today we come together to salute those brave men and women who have answered our nation’s call to serve so honorably in the past, and those who proudly wear the uniform today. I know I am joined by the American people in thanking our veterans for their sacrifice and service to our country.

We owe it to our veterans to recognize them for their service in a meaningful way. President Kennedy, himself a veteran, said, “as we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” As a member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, I remain committed to providing our warriors, past and present, with the compensation, care, and benefits they deserve.

I am constantly reminded how truly fortunate our country is to have such remarkable men and women who, in the face of enormous challenges, serve so courageously and selflessly. We enjoy the many freedoms we do because of the bravery and dedication of the men and women who have served. Thank you to all of our nation’s veterans and to their families, for your courage, sacrifice, and devotion to our nation. To the brave men and women currently in the armed forces, we thank you for your tireless commitment to our country’s security.

Sincerely,

Linda T. Sánchez
Member of Congress
