Dear Neighbor,

Since its passage in 1994, the Violence Against Women’s Act (VAWA) has helped protect victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse. This week, House Republicans passed a version of VAWA that eliminates many of the critical protections available for women.

I joined women’s organizations, anti-domestic violence groups and law enforcement to oppose this bill. You can see my floor speech by clicking here.

This bill leaves victims of domestic violence worse off than they are under current law and denies all women equal protection under the law.

No one should be denied equal protection based on race, national origin or sexual orientation. America’s women deserve better. That is why I want you to know that I will continue to fight to protect women’s rights and safety.

Sincerely,

Linda T. Sánchez
Member of Congress
