Independence Day

July 3, 2012
Dear Friends,
This week our nation prepares to celebrate Independence Day this July 4th. To celebrate our nation’s 236th Birthday, I will take part in the North Carolina 4th of July Festival in Southport.
- NORTH CAROLINA 4th of JULY FESTIVAL
Wednesday, July 4 from 11 am-12 pm
I wish you and your family a safe celebration this holiday weekend. Neighborhood cookouts, festive parades, and dazzling firework displays are among the most popular and cherished traditions for celebrating the 4th of July holiday. Here are some tips to help you enjoy your Independence Day:
- Thank a service member or veteran. This year we marked the end of the war in Iraq but continue to support our troops in Afghanistan. Let us take the time to thank our active duty military and veterans for their service and sacrifice.
- Keep fireworks safety in mind. Before enjoying fireworks this year, be sure to review fireworks safety recommendations and fireworks laws by state.
- Fly the flag. You can show your American pride by flying the flag this Independence Day. If you would like a commemorative flag flown over the Capitol and then sent to you, please contact my office.
As always, please continue to keep me informed about your opinions and concerns by phone at (202) 225-2731 or by email by visiting my website at www.house.gov/mcintyre. May God bless you and your families as you enjoy your Independence Day celebrations this week.
###Sincerely,
U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre
Representing the 7th District of North Carolina
